Tom Torebka - Bass/Baritone
Over the years, Tom has sung in bars, night clubs, restaurants, cruise ships, theaters, studios, churches, museums, libraries, auditoriums, gymnasiums, hotels, ski lodges, fairgrounds, parks, fashion shows, shopping malls and even a couple of corn fields. He has been performing professionally since the late 80's, as a soloist and with several bands, vocal groups, orchestras and opera & theater companies. His repertoire includes opera, theater, rock, classical, sacred, jazz and standards.
Tom has performed 4 seasons with Lake George Opera at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center. Productions have included Mikado, Candide, L'elisir d'amore, Susannah, La Cenerentola and HMS Pinafore. He is currently a member of LGO On Tour - a quartet that sings at fundraisers and corporate functions year-round.
Tom is a founding member of A.R.I.A (formerly Albany Ensemble), a vocal group performing dramatic, moving and entertaining repertoire from the world's great musical traditions. In 2005, the group did a 2 week concert tour of Poland, playing for full houses and receiving rave reviews. They did the same in Bremen, Germany in 2006.
Tom has been a Cantor and music leader at Corpus Christi Church in Round Lake since 2001, where he sings at weekly masses, weddings, funerals and other ceremonies. In 2004, Tom was chosen to be the Cantor for the dedication ceremony of the new church - a very rare and sacred event, performed by the Bishop. He was also the Cantor for the Bishop's Easter mass in 2006, which aired on 3 tv stations on Easter day.
Tom has acted in productions with theater companies, including Schenectady Light Opera, Spotlight Players and Northeast NY Family Players, and he sang the roles of Dr. Grenvil and The Marquis in Glens Falls Symphony's concert performance of La Traviata. He has performed as a featured soloist with local choruses and choirs. He also sings the National Anthem for sporting events at the Times Union Center (formerly Pepsi Arena).
On the rocking side of things, Tom has fronted local bands Hung Jury, Vision, Dr Sooss, The Sequel, Odyssey and Rainmaker, as well as Fallout (Arizona), Fourgone (Connecticut) and X-IT (Connecticut). He is very excited to be a part of The Flipsydz.
